A Whole New Look: Color PPF Transformation on an Aston Martin Vantage
The car came in blue. It left looking like something completely different. Here is how a color PPF install and a fresh set of wheels turned this Aston Martin Vantage into exactly what the owner had been imagining.
Some cars already turn heads the moment they pull into the shop. This Aston Martin Vantage was one of them. But the owner had a clear vision of what he wanted it to be, and what it was when it arrived was not quite it. The color was blue, clean and factory, but fine was not what he was going for.
What followed was one of the more satisfying transformations we have put together at Advance Industries. A full color PPF install on the exterior, a new set of wheels and tires, and a car that left looking nothing like it came in.
The Vehicle
The Aston Martin Vantage is one of the more striking cars in the modern luxury sports segment. The current generation brought a complete redesign with a lower, wider stance, a new front end that divides opinion in the best possible way, and a 503-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 that backs up everything the exterior promises. It is a proper driver's car that also happens to be genuinely beautiful to look at.
It is also not a car you want to get wrong. The bodywork is complex, the factory paint costs real money to redo, and a vehicle at this level deserves to be handled by people who understand what they are working with. When this one came in, we treated it accordingly.
What the Owner Wanted
The brief was straightforward: a full color change, new wheels, and a result that looked intentional from every angle. He did not want a repaint, and he did not want a standard vinyl wrap. He wanted color PPF, a way to land a completely different look while keeping the factory paint fully intact underneath.
The wheels were part of the plan from the start. The owner went with AL13 LUX25 forged wheels with a custom center cap, sourced through our wheels and tires service at Advance Industries. It was the right call. The LUX25 is a new release from AL13's LUX Series, forged in Brea, California, and it sits on this car like it was designed for it.
Color PPF is paint protection film that comes in a solid color rather than clear. It changes the look of the car completely while doing the same job as standard PPF underneath, guarding the factory paint against rock chips, road debris, and UV damage. If you ever want to go back to the original color, the film comes off and the paint underneath is exactly as it was the day it left the factory.
The Work
We used XPEL film for this install, which is the product we use across all of our paint protection film work here at Advance Industries. We have been Colorado's top XPEL dealer for three consecutive years, including being named 2025 Dealer of the Year for Colorado. The reason we keep using their product comes down to performance. The film carries self-healing properties that work out minor surface scratches on their own, and on a car that is going to see real road use in Colorado, that matters more than most people realize.
The install process on a color PPF job requires the same precision as any full-body application. Every panel gets custom-cut film, every edge gets tucked, and every transition gets hand-finished. The difference from a clear install is that there is nowhere to hide on colored film. The quality of the craftsmanship shows immediately, not just later when a chip does not appear.
Once the film was done, the AL13 LUX25s finished the build. The combination of the new color and the new wheels is what moved this from a strong PPF job into a complete transformation.
Why It Matters for Colorado Owners
Colorado is one of the harder states to own a nice car in. The combination of hail season, loose gravel on mountain roads, and high-altitude UV exposure creates a consistent threat to exterior paint that owners in other states simply do not deal with at the same level. For a car like a Vantage, where a full respray costs more than most vehicles on the road, protecting the factory paint is not optional. It is just the right call.
Color PPF makes that protection invisible from the outside. What people see is the new color. What is actually happening underneath is that the original paint is sitting behind a protective layer, untouched, exactly as it left the factory in Gaydon.
The Result
The Vantage left looking like a different car. Same body, completely different presence on the road. The new color landed exactly the way the owner had envisioned it, and the wheels tied the whole build together into something that felt cohesive from every angle.
He asked if we would be bold enough to rock it. After seeing it in person, that question answered itself.
